Boston Brace for Scoliosis

The Boston Brace is a plastic body jacket used in the treatment of adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis. The Boston brace, also referred to as a Thoraco-Lumbo-Sacral Orthosis (TLSO) brace, wraps under the arms and around the rib cage, lower back, and hips in order to cast the spine into a straighter position.Bracing treatment is typically prescribed for patients when the spine’s curvature is between 25 and 40 degrees, and it has shown to be an effective means in stopping the progression of scoliotic curves.The Boston Brace is most effective for curves in the middle and lower back.

 

Milwaukee Brace
 
The Milwaukee brace, also known as a cervico-thoraco-lumbo-sacral orthosis or CTLSO, is a back brace used in the treatment of spinal curvatures (such as scoliosis or kyphosis) in children. It is a full-torso brace that extends from the pelvis to the base of the skull. It was originally designed by Blount and Schmidt in 1946 for postoperative care when surgery required long periods of immobilization.Milwaukee braces are often custom-made over a mold of the patient's torso, but in some cases, it can be made from prefabricated parts. Three bars—two posterior and one anterior—are attached to a pelvic girdle made of leather or plastic, as well as a neck ring.

 

Standing Frame
 
Passive standing with the aid of braces, tilt table or standing frame has traditionally been recommended as part of a comprehensive therapeutic exercise program to maintain the health and physical fitness of spinal cord injured (SCI) individuals. During acute rehabilitation, tilting in bed or on a tilt table is initiated as soon possible to establish orthostatic tolerance for future wheelchair mobilization and, if indicated, gait training.

A measurement of your foot is taken so that we can get a cast of your foot and then detailed modifications are made to the cast to ensure a proper fit the orthotic (foot support) is then hand crafted by skilled technicians to get the perfect fit.

 

Dennis Browne Splint (CLUB FOOT)
 
 
Dennis Browne Shoe / Splint are designed to be used to help maintain correction in babies with Clubfoot and Metatarsus Adductus.Clubfoot is a complex deformity that is readily apparent at birth and in some cases is diagnosed by prenatal ultrasound. The goal of treatment is to obtain and maintain correction of the clubfoot so that the patient has a functional, pain- Free, plantigrade foot, with good mobility and without calluses.

 

Orthopaedic Footwear
 
Orthopaedic Shoes are medically necessary footwear designed for individual with foot heel ankle and leg problems. They are specially engineered to provide pain relief and support for the ankles and feet of patients of all ages . Orthopaedic Shoes are typically prescribed by specialized foot care doctors who make the prescription after a thorough assessment and extensive evaluation of a patient’s gate, posture, motion of feet and the strength, alignment and structure of the legs.

 

Diabetic Footwear
 
People with diabetes are prone to foot problems as diabetes causes damage to blood vessels and nerves. This, in turn results in a decreased ability to sense trauma or pressure on the foot and a foot injury may go unnoticed until severe infection develops. Small infections can rapidly progress to death of the skin and other tissues(necrosis) which may require amputation of the affected limb to save the patient’s life. Foot problems can be prevented in part with improved blood sugar control and part with custom made medically proven footwear.
